Welcome to the Vernon Volunteer Fire Department's official website. Vernon is a rural community located in the south east corner of Vermont, bordering New Hampshire and Massachusetts. Located 90 miles northwest of Boston, Vernon is accessible from Brattleboro by way of Route 142 south and Northfield, Ma by way of Route 142 north. The town is known highly for hosting the Vermont Yankee Nuclear Power Plant. Aside from that, Vernon is a quite bedroom community with friendly, good natured people. The town is also situated along the picturesque Connecticut river. Within 35 miles from various ski areas, Vernon is  "Vermont's Gateway". The Vernon Volunteer Fire Department is a non-profit, volunteer fire department, which responds to both fire and EMS calls since 1954.
